Representative Allen Buansi Announces Re-election Campaign for State House District 56

CHAPEL HILL, NC – State House Representative Allen Buansi announced he will run for re-election in North Carolina House District 56, which covers much of Chapel Hill and Carrboro. He is still working to ensure an affordable, accessible and inclusive North Carolina.

Since he entered office in June 2022, Rep. Buansi has developed a track record for getting things done, been outspoken against the regressive Republican legislative agenda and has become a leader, as one of two co-chairs of the House Democratic Freshman Caucus.

Rep. Buansi hit the ground running, and he introduced or helped introduce over 15 bills and cosponsored over 130 bills. He filed HB 293, with the support of every House and Senate Democrat, to protect voting rights and fully fund North Carolina’s elections systems to improve the administration, security and efficiency of elections. He shepherded through a bipartisan bill to preserve the native plant Venus Flytrap, which passed the State House unanimously.

Rep. Buansi continues to have a vision of a North Carolina that serves everyone and leaves no one behind. This North Carolina would robustly invest in our children and in public education. This North Carolina would provide good, fair opportunities for workers and small business owners to take care of themselves and their families. This North Carolina would provide affordable and accessible healthcare and high-speed Internet for all of us. This North Carolina would step up efforts to combat climate change and protect our state’s most vulnerable communities.

Rep. Buansi is a proud husband and father of three beautiful children. He is the son and nephew of public school teachers. He is an attorney and a former Chapel Hill Town Council member, who was raised and educated in Orange County. “I have been honored and privileged to serve the residents of House District 56,” said Rep. Buansi. “This community raised me, and I am deeply committed to moving our district and state forward.”
